Get Started
The Enginuity Network is a student-driven mentoring program. You choose your mentor, you initiate the relationship, and you set the pace. The program is open to all Riccio College of Engineering undergraduates beginning in their sophomore year. Alumni mentors are part of an evergreen network and can be contacted at any time during the academic year.
Register and Complete Your Profile. Create your account using your UMass email address and build your profile in approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Share your engineering discipline, career interests, and what you hope to gain from mentorship. Adding a professional photo increases engagement and helps mentors connect with you.
Explore Alumni Mentors. Browse mentor profiles and filter by engineering discipline, industry, career path, location, and other criteria to find alumni whose experience aligns with your goals. Take your time; the right fit matters more than speed.
Request a Connection. When you find a mentor whose background resonates with your interests, send a connection request with a personalized message explaining why you would like to connect. A thoughtful introduction goes a long way. Your Student Mentee Handbook has templates and tips for making a strong first impression.
Set Expectations Together. Once your connection is accepted, schedule an initial conversation with your mentor to establish goals, communication preferences, and meeting frequency. Discuss whether you will meet virtually or in person and agree on a schedule that works for both of you.
Meet at Least Three Times. The program asks every mentoring pair to meet a minimum of three times per semester. Come prepared with questions and discussion topics, and actively work toward your goals. The more you invest in the relationship, the more you will gain from it.
Share Your Experience. Complete the midpoint and end-of-semester surveys so we can continue improving the program. We also welcome your stories and feedback at any time. Contact the program team at coecareers@umass.edu.
