Mentee Expectations

The Enginuity Network is built on the idea that you are the designer of your own career, and your mentoring relationship works the same way. The students who get the most out of this program are the ones who lead with curiosity, prepare thoughtfully, and treat every conversation as an opportunity to learn.

  • Take initiative. You are responsible for reaching out to your mentor, scheduling meetings, and driving the conversation. This is a student-initiated program by design.
  • Meet at least three times per semester. This is the program minimum. Many students find that regular meetings build stronger relationships and deeper conversations over time.
  • Come prepared. Before each meeting, review your goals, prepare questions or topics, and think about what you want to learn. Your Student Mentee Handbook has conversation guides and planning tools to help.
  • Communicate professionally. Respect your mentor's time. Confirm meetings, arrive on time, and notify your mentor if you need to reschedule.
  • Be open and honest. Share your goals, uncertainties, and evolving interests. Mentors can offer better guidance when they understand where you are and where you want to go.
  • Complete the surveys. The midpoint and end-of-semester surveys help us measure the program's impact and improve the experience for future participants.
