The SBS Shadows program is offered annually during winter break. It provides one-day job shadowing experiences that give SBS students the opportunity to spend time with alumni or other hosts in their place of work. Through observation and conversation, students will learn more about a profession, receive career-related advice, and see first-hand how their experience in the UMass Amherst College of Social & Behavioral Sciences can prepare them for life after college.

Why a job shadowing program? The SBS Shadows Program allows you to get an insider’s view of a career field by visiting a host’s workplace. The shadow experience will provide you with

• Exposure to a field of interest, and to the work of the organization. • A basic understanding of the various pieces that make an organization work. • An opportunity to network with professionals that they may approach for guidance and advice in the future.
